1. Tawaf al-Qudum (Arrival Tawaf)
This Tawaf is performed when entering Makkah by pilgrims coming for Hajj (Qiran or Ifrad).
- Done as a greeting to the Kaaba
- Sunnah for Hajj pilgrims
- Performed after entering Masjid al-Haram
👉 Not required for Umrah-only pilgrims.
2. Tawaf al-Umrah
This Tawaf is essential for Umrah.
- First main ritual of Umrah
- Must be completed for Umrah to be valid
- Followed by Sa’i and hair cutting
👉 Without this Tawaf, Umrah is incomplete.
3. Tawaf al-Ifadah (Main Hajj Tawaf)
This is the most important Tawaf of Hajj.
- Performed on or after the 10th of Dhul Hijjah
- Also called Tawaf az-Ziyarah
- Mandatory for completing Hajj
👉 Hajj is not complete without this Tawaf.
4. Tawaf al-Wada (Farewell Tawaf)
This Tawaf is done before leaving Makkah.
- Mandatory for most pilgrims
- A farewell to the Kaaba
- No Sa’i after this Tawaf
👉 Women in menstruation are excused.
5. Nafl (Voluntary) Tawaf
This Tawaf is performed anytime, without Hajj or Umrah.
- Can be done as extra worship
- No Ihram required
- Can be done multiple times
👉 A beautiful way to earn extra reward while in Makkah.
